I have made a game. Please tell me the ways in which it is rubbish.

Interesting, also difficult. I think it's quite a solid base for a game with more depth.

I really really like the graphical style but I'm not keen on the planet as the start, go for a Defcon style world and it will fit right in with the overall look.

Yeh, I might do that. Thanks. I was going for a different style originally, then decided to make my own images when I couldn't find anything suitable for the spaceships.

Hey it's really good fun :) I think a great addition would be collision between the 'hostile' objects, so even though you can't shoot them down you can fly them in to rocks or shoot down the planes with the missiles.

Yeh, that's something a lot of people are saying. I did originally have the lasers able to destroy the other enemy spaceships. But that just led to them all blowing each other up very quickly. But I'm going to redo the asteroids so you can lead the missiles and enemy ships into colliding with them.

The survival aspect to the game is what really appealed to me, the fact that you have to use your 'maneuverability' to survive, although after replays I am not sure if you can die?

It reminded me so much of EVE and the vulnerable feeling you have after getting popped the mad dash escape in your defenceless pod to save all your rather expensive implants, but there is allot of things I seem to relate to EVE recently.

The music is sweet (I a huge fan of IDM). The way the game's intensity changes with the music, like how many enemies on the screen and how the beat is in time with the tail end of your propulsion device.

Like I said, awesome awesome game.

(ooh, I just realized this post CONTAINS SPOILERS! And a big congrats to roB for creating a game about which that can be said. Not a simple feat.)

quite awesome. agree about you need to be able to lead the baddies into the rocks or w/e as long as them colliding with rocks = them dead / damaged.

also, powerups! tighter turning radius for 30 seconds? emergency brake? one-time kill-everything-in-sight bomb?

quite badass in general, my one quibble being that (a) the viewport isn't quite big enough, so I feel like I'm aiming at what I *think* is just offstage. Once a rock comes into the view, I don't have time / turning radius to get it, I have to target it while it's out of the view, then user my leet Reset skillz to kill it down. And (b) some feedback while I'm playing instead of just at the end. Teach me what I'm supposed to do as I'm doing it. Wasn't sure if I was scoring points or what.

My absolute favorite bit is coasting to a stop at the end. Don't lose that.

I've tried it a little, but I think I will have to spend a little more time on it yet. However, someone should probably mention to Kieron that it's "Rest to Reset" not "Reset to Reset"

quote:
It’s inspired by and based around “Reset to Reset” by Trash80 (who you’ll know as the creator of the music for Darwinia).

Otherwise, I'm impressed. Not just that you've made a fun little game-experience that works well with the music, but also that you done got yourself mentioned on RPS!

w00t!

Finally got around to giving this a whirl today.

I really like it, very nice job. I'd echo a couple of things already mentioned, it is a bit tough and power-ups would be awesome.

The first couple of goes I had I couldn't help but aim for the Asteroids just to relive my youth. :)

Yeh, there's been a few people now who've said they wanted to hit the asteroids, or thought maybe they were supposed to. Which I wasn't expecting, but I don't think it's a bad thing. I enjoyed hunting them down too when testing the collision effects.

I've just reinstalled Windows and all drivers etc, but I don't think I'd restarted the PC to let the settings change, so it's possible the GFX card just wasn't working properly at the time. Let me check... win.

I loved that. It's like a dance, but terribly bleak. The countdown to death at the end is very morose. The music is also full of awesome.

I think there should be more asteroids, and extra points for making those little red pointy bastards crash into them.

Cool. I'm glad you got it working.

I avoided the work I should have been doing today by fiddling with Reset instead. The enemies will be able to collide with the asteroids in the next version, and it will be possible to intentionally lead the missiles into them. However, I think I'll be keeping the red spaceships as invincible, so they just smash through asteroids and keep on going. They're very stupid, and crash into them on their own a lot. They'd be wiped out very quickly if that killed them.

It has changed the feel of it a bit. There are now a hell of a lot of exploding rocks all around you when flying through the asteroid belt. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing yet.

I also started work on more secret stuff to be found out in space.

It looks like I might be making a 3D browser game followup to Reset over the next year, as a team project.
